Can I use my IELTS Academic results for migration purposes? test

IELTS Academic and General Training are two wholly separate types of test, for two different purposes. While some individual organisations may accept an Academic result in the place of General Training, this decision is up to them. You will need to contact your specific organisation to learn more.

As IELTS is an international test, a variety of voices and native-speaker accents are used in both the General Training and Academic tests.

Are the questions tested before they get used in the IELTS test?

Of course!  Every test question that appears on the IELTS test is designed, screened and tested by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) to ensure it meets standard requirements before being released as test material. This can take up to two years to ensure every question complies with our high standards  for  all test takers.
Our research  ensures  IELTS remains fair and unbiased for anyone who sits the test, regardless of nationality, background, gender or lifestyle. Our highly trusted  team  ensures every version of the test is of comparable difficulty.

Can I bring in my own pen and paper into the IELTS test?

For both IELTS on paper and IELTS on computer, you will not  be able to bring your own paper into the test for security reasons. If you are sitting  IELTS on computer, we  will provide you with a pencil and paper.  You also receive paper for your Speaking  test to help you organise your thoughts as you speak with the examiner.

Can other English language test results count towards my IELTS score?

Since IELTS is an individual English-language proficiency test, no other test results will be able to count towards your IELTS score.

Do I have to speak with a particular accent in my IELTS Speaking test?

Accepted Answer

Everyone speaks with an accent and you are not expected to change your accent for the IELTS test. Instead, focus on speaking clearly and at a natural pace so that the examiner can understand you. Practising your English every day and listening to different native speaker accents will help you to more clearly pronounce difficult words.

How much does the IELTS test cost?

If you take Academic or General Training IELTS, the test costs 11,300 PHP. If you take Academic for UKVI or General Training for UKVI, the test costs 11,995 PHP. Life Skills A1 and B1 tests cost 9,890 PHP.

Can I do all parts of the test on the same day?

Accepted Answer

The Listening, Reading and Writing parts of the test are completed immediately after each other on the same day. In some test centres, you will sit the Speaking test on the same day, or up to 7 days before or after your test date. If you take computer-delivered IELTS, the Speaking test will be taken on the same day, either before, or after the other three parts of the test.
If you take a paper-based IELTS test, you can request to take the Speaking test on the same day as the Listening, Reading and Writing tests. The test centre will try and accommodate your request.

How can I improve my Writing band score?

Read the assessment criteria used for Academic and General Training writing tests carefully before your test day. The examiner will assess your writing based on four criteria for Task 1 and Task 2. Remember that Writing Task 2 is worth twice as many marks as Task 1. You can improve your Writing band score by practising sample IELTS test questions so you understand what to expect on a test day.
