The Australian Department of Home Affairs accepts IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) for immigration purposes for certain subclasses. It is important to check the Department’s website to understand for which visa subclasses you can use IELTS One Skill Retake.
You will also need to check with the other organisations you plan on sending your IELTS results to, to see if they accept IELTS One Skill Retake results.

How will I receive my IELTS One Skill Retake results?

You will receive a new IELTS Test Report Form, that includes your new IELTS One Skill Retake result as well as the results from the previous skills you did not retake. This Test Report Form will be dated the same as your original IELTS Academic or General Training test.

If you recently took an IELTS on computer test at IDP Melbourne, IDP Adelaide, IDP Sydney, IDP Brisbane IDP Cairns and IDP Perth, you can then retake any one skill of the IELTS test, whether it’s Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking.
The format and timing of the IELTS One Skill Retake test are the same as individual skills in a normal IELTS test. You can save time by not needing to complete the other three skills. You will receive a new Test Report Form. You can choose whether you would like to use either your old or new Test Report Form.

How much does IELTS One Skill Retake cost?

The price for One Skill Retake is the same whether you retake IELTS Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing. There is no separate registration fee or payment processing fee. There is also no additional fee for last-minute bookings.

You can book IELTS One Skill Retake if you sat IELTS on computer test at an eligible IELTS test centre. IELTS One Skill Retake is now available in Australia and will be gradually launched in other regions and countries around the world throughout 2023. You need to book and sit the IELTS One Skill Retake test within 60 days of your original test. 
You must use the same ID for the One Skill Retake as you used for the original test sitting. The ID must still be current and valid at the time of taking your Retake. Please email our team if you have any questions. We are ready to help you.

You can take up to 60 days between your original test and your IELTS One Skill Retake.

You can book your IELTS One Skill Retake at any eligible IDP IELTS test centre when it is available in your city. Once IELTS One Skill Retake has launched, you will be able to log into your IDP IELTS account to see if this option is available to you in your ‘Results’ area and at what centres.

You can retake any one skill of the IELTS test, whether it’s Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. The format and timing of that IELTS One Skill Retake test is the same as a normal IELTS test, only you can save time by not needing to complete the other three skills.

No. You can only complete your retake once per full IELTS test.

No. A maximum of one skill of the test can be retested for each full IELTS test. You cannot request a second IELTS One Skill Retake on the same test. If you wish to improve your IELTS score in more than one skill, you will need to book a complete IELTS test (all four skills).

No, IELTS One Skill Retake is the same format test as your IELTS test. This means that you can use the same practice materials available for IELTS.

You will receive your results within 3-5 days.

How do I use my original IELTS test and IELTS One Skill Retake results?

You may use either your Test Report Form and scores from your original four skill IELTS test or you can use your updated Test Report Form which includes your IELTS One Skill Retake score.  The original Test Report Form will continue to exist alongside your new IELTS One Skill Retake score, and both are valid.

If you want to submit an Enquiry On Results against your original full IELTS test, you must do so within two weeks of the date of the original full IELTS test date for Listening, Reading and Writing, and wait until you receive your remark status before registering for a One Skills Retake against the same full IELTS test.
